The Knox/East Tennessee Healthcare Coalition (KETHC) proudly participated in the Tennessee Department of Health’s East Regional Office’s Emergency Preparedness Expo at Smokies Stadium, offering attendees a hands-on experience with vital emergency preparedness tools and training. This event provided an excellent opportunity for the community to engage with safety experts and learn valuable skills to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.

KETHC highlighted several of its key resources during the Expo, including our Bullseye Fire Extinguisher Training System. This innovative tool allows participants to practice putting out fires in a safe, controlled environment using laser technology. Fire safety is a critical aspect of emergency preparedness, and this interactive system gave attendees the chance to gain confidence in using an extinguisher—an essential skill in the event of a fire.

In addition to fire safety, KETHC also featured the Mobility Trailer, one of the Coalition’s key resources aimed at addressing the needs of vulnerable populations during disasters. The Mobility Trailer is stocked with items such as wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices, ensuring that people with mobility challenges have access to the tools they need to stay safe in an emergency. This aligns with our ongoing commitment to ensuring that all community members, including those with disabilities, are prepared for and protected in times of crisis.

The Expo itself was a comprehensive event offering interactive activities for all ages. Attendees learned life-saving techniques such as CPR, basic first aid, and how to stop bleeding—skills that can make a critical difference in an emergency. The event underscored the importance of community preparedness and gave families practical knowledge they could use in real-world situations.
