Training is free and lunch will be provided.

Todd Spence was a team lead for the Tennessee Strike Team that was deployed to Florida during Hurricane Irma. Pre-hurricane emergency evacuations were done from the areas in the path of the hurricane. Patients were transferred to other facilities and shelters. Todd will discuss the process, lessons learned and best practices. Todd is a paramedic/TCCC, Training Officer and Communications Officer for Sevier County Ambulance Service.

 

Kathy Nelson, Nurse Supervisor for the East Tennessee Region, was deployed as a nurse strike team lead during Hurricane Irma. Kathy and her team spent 13 days in Florida working in shelters. Kathy will share lessons learned and best practices that could help anyone planning from the health care community.

Carolyn Doefort with the Tennessee American Red Cross will present on past American Red Cross deployments specifically involving Long Term Care facilites. She will also discuss  American Red Cross assistance that can be provided during events.
