Containment of Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms Tabletop Exercise

March 2 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Tennessee Hospital Association and the Tennessee Department of Health are hosting a tabletop exercise on containment of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) in 2018.

  1. Review background on Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and Carbapenemase-producing-CRE (CP-CRE) as example multi-drug resistant organism (MDRO) with transmission potential in healthcare settings.
  2. Describe the current guidance for a public health response to contain targeted MDROs.
  3. Review the TN Incident Command Structure and roles applicable to a highly infectious disease response.
  4. Outline steps to become familiar with accessing the Tennessee Department of Health Infectious disease response system.

Participants will learn how to:
• Define plans for MDRO containment across the continuum of care
• Access resources for response
• Engage stakeholders and promote collaboration between lab scientists, epidemiologists, healthcare facility staff and other key players

Tabletop exercises are intended to generate discussion of a plan regarding a hypothetical simulated emergency response.
